Building/Landscape Maintenance and Operations (900 Clock-Hour Certificate)

(formerly Landscape Management)

The Building/Landscape Maintenance and Operations program is designed to prepare students for successful entry-level employment.  The student will learn how to use a variety of hand tools and lawn care equipment.  Students who complete the course have the opportunity to work in either the building maintenance or lawn care fields.  Building/Landscape Maintenance and Operations is now certified through NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research).

In addition, students will have the opportunity to participate in: 

  • SkillsUSA Club (America’s largest student co-curricular organization)—attending and participating in business-style meetings and competing in skill-related contests.
  • EV Challenge (Electric Car conversion project) through various activities including web page design, prepared speech, and pit crew and attending National competition in North Carolina.
  • Students also have the opportunity to join in with other students to raise funds for their various activities.  Past events included Longaberger Basket Bingo, Buckwheat Festival, serving concessions at WVU functions.
