Processing Financial Aid

Financial aid documentation is completed during June, July and August

Upon acceptance in an MTEC program, students will be contacted to process financial aid once MTEC receives the electronic Student Aid Report AFTER the FAFSA submission. The MTEC Code of 012904 must be on the application in order for the school to electronically receive the results (Student Aid Report) of the FAFSA.

Students must first complete the FAFSA application before an appointment can be scheduled; appointments are for those who are deemed eligible for Pell Grants.  Students with an EFC (Expected Family Contribution) in excess of 5234 are ineligible for Pell Grant funding and will not need to communicate with the financial aid advisor.

The FAFSA application will generate a confirmation e-mail with an anticipated Pell award amount.  If no amount is indicated, you are ineligible for Pell or your application is incomplete.  All amounts are estimated until finalizing documents with the financial aid advisor at MTEC.

Unless exceptional circumstances prevail, applicants should have the FAFSA submitted by June 15 and no later than July 1 prior to the start of a program in August.

If there are questions regarding eligibility, you may contact the Federal Student Aid Information Center at 1-800-4-FED-AID (1-800-433-3243).  If you have unanswered questions, contact Lezlie Lough, Financial Aid Advisor/Counselor at MTEC at 304-291-9240, ext 223.

Once accepted in the program, you will be contacted by the financial aid advisor if you are Pell eligible.   For this reason, it is very important that the legal name used on the FAFSA match the name given to MTEC on an application for health occupations or technical programs.
