Thank you for visiting MTEC’s Student Services Page. I am Angie Copeland, Counselor and TASC Coordinator. At MTEC, some of my duties include providing career services, helping students plan for education after high school, including MTEC’s Adult Education Programs, countywide TASC coordination, and drug counseling for our simulated workplace. I have been a school counselor for 13 years and a college financial aid and student services assistant, counselor, and coordinator for ten years prior to that. Earn a Degree Graduate Early (EDGE)
Many Career and Technical Education programs at MTEC earn free college credits known as EDGE at community and technical colleges in West Virginia. The West Virginia EDGE initiative provides multiple opportunities for students entering the workforce in the 21st century. The initiative requires a collaborative partnership between business/labor, postsecondary, and secondary educational levels. Its main purpose is to provide viable career options for individuals through a rigorous, seamless curriculum, work-based learning experiences, and career development. Through West Virginia EDGE, you can earn a degree and graduate early. Get an EDGE on your future!

Pierpont Community and Technical College EDGE Transcript Request Form
Early College Academy
Presently MTEC has a partnership with Pierpont Community and Technical College (PCTC), in which students in EDGE programs that have EDGE credits that will transfer to PCTC, may take college classes for $25 per credit, on their own time, outside of the regular school day. By the end of the fall 2019 semester, Early College Academy, will have afforded 53 MTEC students the opportunity to take 65 college classes, in addition to the EDGE credits they are earning while completing their MTEC courses.
TASC High School Equivalency Exam (formerly GED)
TASC Enrollment Procedure
Adult students wishing to earn a high school equivalency diploma can contact the Adult Learning Center at MTEC by calling 304-291-9226 to schedule an appointment. If no one is available, please leave a message. They usually will return your call within 24 hours.
High school students are strongly encouraged to stay in school and earn a traditional diploma. However, parents interested in information pertaining to the high school equivalency exam should contact their child’s high school counselor.
