WVU's Science Adventure School 2022

Monongalia County Schools’ sixth graders were given the opportunity to attend WVU’s Science Adventure School over the past three weeks.  The middle school students were immersed in a life-enriching 4-day, 3-night stay which included camping in yurts, identifying plants and wildlife, learning sports such as rock climbing, BMX bike riding, archery, ziplining, and more! Experiential learning at the school is reinforced  by qualified instructors who also teach the “Science Behind the Sport” for each activity.

Through facing outdoor challenges that most have had little or no exposure to, SAS students must find the courage to embrace the adventures of the day-- rain, snow or shine. Small confidence building opportunities like pushing through uncomfortable circumstances for the reward of simply having the new experience or developing a practical skill, can translate to achieving big wins in the classroom and in life.

Photos below show a few of the adventures students experienced.
