MTEC Certificate Criteria

Students who have satisfactorily completed the prescribed program of study as outlined by the West Virginia Department of Education/Career & Technical Education, have been enrolled in 6 or more CTE classes within the same program, maintained a “C” average in each course, completed all requirements including CTE Portfolio and met the criteria of the school’s attendance policy are issued a certificate of completion. Certificates are presented at the MTEC Certificate Ceremony.

+Enrollment: Students must be enrolled in 6 or more courses in his/her program.

+Grades: Students must earn a C or higher in ALL CTE coursework. **The exception is Health Occupation Courses: Dental Assisting, Emergency Medical Services, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician. These courses require Bs or higher per West Virginia Department of Education completion requirements.

+Attendance: Students can miss no more than 6 days in any class period at MTEC.

The only absences that will not count toward the student’s 6 days of absences include absences coded in WVEIS as the following: exempt; extenuating circumstances reviewed on a case by case basis
